Macau (á má gau) / Ou Mun ( Door )

The Portuguese called Há Má Gao (the place of the Godess Há má) which is still the name of a temple in the Inner port. Há má is the god of fisherman and the sailors in the Chinese tradition. The Portuguese, sailors themselves, like the name and adopted ; Há má gao- Macau.

For the Chinese is quite different.

After Admiral Zen trip to Africa and the burned ships ordered by the Emperor when he arrives to China the only door to the outside world was Há má gao / Ou mun ( ou mun means in Cantonese the open door).
